Today's Topic: Being Thankful for Others

Gratitude grounds us, reminding us how lucky we are to live our lives the way that we do. Even more important is showing gratitude to others around us, the ones who have shaped us into who we are today and continue to support us through it all. These are our parents, family members, friends, teachers, coaches, and mentors, who pave the way so that we can be successful.

One of my favorite ways to show gratitude is through acts of service. Whether it's taking over and cooking a meal for your family so that your mom can have a day off, or helping your friend wash her car because she's been too busy to get it done, even the littlest acts can make a huge impact. Taking care of those that you're thankful for lets them know that you care and that you appreciate everything they do for you by returning the favor!

Another way to display your appreciation is just by straight up telling them! A note, letter, text, or email goes a long way, especially when it is specific to them. It shows that you were thinking of them, and took time out of your day to let them know how awesome they are. Showing your loved ones your gratitude through your words does an amazing job of showing them how you feel and how lucky you are to have them.

Finally, showing gratitude means showing up when it means the most. Going to your cousin's dance performance or taking your sister to go grab food when she's had a hard day can mean more than you realize. It shows that you are supporting them in the same way that they support you, and creates a stronger bond between you two.

Appreciating others is such a special thing because it can completely make their day, even if you didn't realize how great of an impact your gratitude would have. Sometimes we feel gratitude towards others, but don't express it, and it is left unsaid. Sharing it is beneficial for everyone, creating a win-win situation because the other person feels appreciated, while you are growing as a person as well.
