Today's Topic: Creating Goals and Sticking to Them
In honor of the new year, I have decided that today is all about our resolutions and goals for this upcoming year. It has been proven that simply choosing goals is less effective than employing certain methods and strategies in order to be more purposeful in your goal-setting.
First of all, goals cannot be too broad, or else it will be much more challenging for you to accomplish them. In order to make sure our goals are aligned with what we truly want, we need to make S.M.A.R.T. goals. This stands for specific, measurable, acheivable, relevant, and time-bound. So, when we are creating goals, we have to keep this criteria in mind. For example, instead of saying that you want to read more books this year, you can set specific parameters, and make a goal to read for a total of three hours each week so that you can finish a certain number of books, such as 15, each year. You can include a method to make this goal acheivable, such as tracking your reading time. Making S.M.A.R.T. goals will help you grow even closer to acheiving them and bettering yourself.
There are also smaller strategies that you can take on along the way to help acheive your goals. You can break down a large goal into smaller steps, and provide yourself with rewards for each step. You can track your progress, or write down your goals, or even talk to your friends and family so that they can help motivate you as well.
All of these are ideas to help you get started on your goals. Whether you want to acheive more academically, socially, or mentally, these tips will help you make the most out of the new year!
